About

Based in Agnes Water, Australia — De Maine is a boutique software studio built differently.

We believe the model of large software houses — layers of management, bloated teams, and inflated budgets — is broken for most businesses. De Maine was built to solve that. Our senior developers are your project managers, architects, and engineers. With 25+ years of experience across full-stack web, AI systems, AR/VR, blockchain, and digital installations, we bring the calibre of a top-tier software house without the overhead. We leverage cutting-edge AI tooling to deliver faster and more accurately than any traditional team of the same cost. The result: complete, professional, turn-key business systems that work.

The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.

Tobias De Maine

Founder & Lead Engineer

Tobias De Maine

Agnes Water, Queensland, Australia

Tobias has been building software since 1999. Over 25 years he has worked across virtually every layer of the modern web — from bare-metal Linux servers to React frontends, from low-level C and OpenGL to cloud-native Node.js and PostgreSQL systems deployed at scale on AWS and Azure.

That breadth is not accidental. It is what makes De Maine different. When one person holds the entire system in their head — architecture, design, backend, frontend, and deployment — there are no gaps, no handoffs, and no budget lost to coordination. You get the whole picture, built right, the first time.

25 Years. Real Systems.

Tobias began his career building HTML frontends and PHP systems in the late 1990s — well before frameworks, cloud platforms, or AI tooling existed. Through the 2000s he led product art localisation at Autodesk for AutoCAD Mechanical and Inventor, and spent nearly a decade writing video performance software in C and C++ for live music events. That period built a rigour for low-latency, high-performance systems that carries through into every piece of software he builds today.

Through the 2010s he moved into full-stack product work — building bespoke factory management systems, e-learning platforms, iOS applications, and financial tools for clients across Australia and the United Kingdom. He has led projects for advertising agencies, fintech startups, childcare platforms, and government councils — always as the engineer closest to the problem, not the furthest from it.

Where He Works Now

In recent years Tobias has been at the leading edge of applied AI and blockchain — building AR installations commissioned by Livingstone Shire and Rockhampton Regional councils, delivering AI-driven mapped projection works for Gladstone's Luminous Light Festival, and shipping a live Web3 platform for crypto-backed gold trading and micro-lending. These are not prototypes or proofs of concept. They are production systems, running in the real world, for real users.

Today, De Maine channels that full body of experience into one thing: building complete, turn-key business systems for companies that need the calibre of a top-tier software house — without the overhead that makes one unaffordable.
